I'm grouping Sunday and Monday together because no lie, I slept all day Monday.
SUNDAY was great. We woke up and walked down to a coffee shop on the river. This is where I witnessed one of the coolest things I've seen since I've been here and possibly ever: A Michael Jackson Thriller Flash Mob. Complete with Asians in costume. (See below)
Notice the "Merlion" in the back ground. It supposed to be good luck to take a picture with that thing.
The Palms Casino. 3 skyscrapers with what looks like a boat carefully placed on top. There is a park on that "boat" along with a restaurant and infinity pool. I believe we are going to dinner there tonight or tomorrow, more pics to come when we go.
Sunday was mostly just walking around the neighborhood. I am shocked at how clean everything is here. (I rode the subway earlier and it was SO clean, a definite change from MARTA in ATL, which smells like someone mopped the floors with pee.) We stumbled upon an old British fort called Fort Cannon where apparently if you venture too close to the fence, the shoot you.
But seriously, this place was very cool. Very Asian-y.
We even saw a few old men practicing some form of martial arts.
We also found the tree of life
After leaving Fort Cannon we were sweaty and in great need of a beverage. The humidity here is no joke. Will is too sweet and knows that I'm not the most adventurous eater, so he took me to a western restaurant, we were able to get American style sandwiches so I was happy.
On Sunday night my sleepiness started to set in so we grabbed Wendy's.
Nothing too adventurous yet although I have high hopes for the rest of the week because hopefully I'll be able to keep my eyes open past 4:00 in the afternoon.

Delta 281
That was my flight number, Delta 281. Seat 47G. Coach. Boarding zone 2 (thanks Delta Gold AMEX). The first day of my trip will be called Delta 281 because the flight was 24 hours, I went through 12 timezones, it was Friday when I left Atlanta and Sunday when I got to Singapore and mostly when I think about it too much the time change really confuses me and it just doesn't feel right calling that "one day".
I finished packing on Friday morning, the day I was supposed to leave. It was kind of surreal to think that in a few short hours (be serious, as I already mentioned, it was a 24 hour flight) I would be on the complete other side of the world with Will. I was excited and super anxious, that although I had packed my entire closet, I would not be prepared clothing wise to be in Singapore for 2 weeks. Yeah, I said it. I mean you tell me what I'm supposed to wear to ride an elephant.
The person that convinced me to start the blog up again and write about my trip specifically requested that I write about what I ate every day. So here goes...
Friday morning I woke up, convinced by Will and my mother that I wouldn't eat another decent meal again for at least 24 hours, I went to Chick-fil-A and got a four pack of chicken minis. Chicken minis 1-3 went down fine, but mini number 4 did not, it was gross and fatty. This disgusting bit of knowledge is important to remember when I speak about eating chicken. I think that about 65% of all chicken is non-edible, it's fatty or has a weird slightly discolored spot (slightly discolored spots on anything should never be eaten) or maybe during the cooking process it has doubled back on itself thus making it impossible to see if that part is pure chicken or fatty chicken, so it becomes non-eaten chicken.
Will also recommended that I bring snacks on the plane because everyone knows plane food is gross. So I bought Special K cereal bars, Goldfish, Honey Nut Cheerios and, after being locked in a fierce debate with myself about whether to go with Bold and Spicy Chex Mix or Gardettos, (the dettos won, duh) I was set for my in-flight snack.
Airplane meal #1
I went with chicken instead of the Asian beef. In my experience its better to go with mass produced chicken than mass produced Asian beef. It's a lesser of 2 evils kind of thing if you will. The chicken was not real chicken, I think it was the fused together kind so I did not eat it. (Add fused together chicken to the above list of kinds of chicken I do not eat.) Determined to not offend the flight attendant so that he would in turn not short me on beverages, I pretended to eat my chicken. You know the old move-the-food-around-on-your-plate-so-it-looks-like-you-ate-a-lot-but-actually-you-just-moved-the-food-around. But I did not touch the "shrimp cocktail". I'm never even going to pretend to eat airplane "shrimp cocktail".
Airplane meal #2
A turkey sandwich with a banana. The only normal food they served on the whole flight and I didn't eat it. Why? I had just devoured my Gardettos (solid choice MJ) a mere 5 minutes before they starting passing out the turkey sandwiches. I was worried that the western man and his mail order Asian bride next to me would judge me for eating right after the first meal was served, I mean after all, I am very good at moving food around on a plate to make it look like I ate it (been doing that with my great aunt's ham with ketchup glaze for as long as I can remember). So I waited a respectable amount of time to "eat again". Also, something about a banana that is served at 35,000 feet off the ground makes it very stinky. Very. Stinky.
Airplane meal #3
Breakfast, my favorite. I knew from the menu that breakfast would be a choice between fried rice or a turkey sausage and cheese omelet with roasted potatoes and fresh fruit. Umm I'm not Asian, omelet please.
I'm still upset with myself for eating that omelet. Also, like bananas, something about turkey sausage served 35,000 feet off the ground makes it stink. For real.
Airplane meal #4
Not even sure what it was. But I declined it. Manners be damned. My stomach was still mad about the omelet. And the smell of bananas and turkey sausage was almost bad enough that I didn't enjoy my all-8-movie Harry Potter Marathon. Jealous?
But I made it. I'm here. Lots of pictures to come for sure. And shorter posts. And less about food. Promise.

Brief Overview
Will has been in Singapore for work since August 8th and I'm here to visit for 2 whole weeks. While I'm here, I'll be working a few days from my company's office and basically wandering around an unfamiliar Asian city waiting for Will to get off work. We are also going to take a weekend trip to Bali to ride elephants.
Facts:
- Since August 8th, Will and I have seen each other 1 time, for a visit that totaled nine days.
- The plane ride from Atlanta to Singapore is 24 hours. Yes, 24 hours in the air, actually flying. That's 12 timezones folks.
- I get super anxious on airplanes.
- I can't sleep on airplanes.
- I typically don't eat on airplanes.
- I'm a picky eater. By picky I mean I like processed food. And all white meat chicken.
- If you gave me a map of the world, there is a really good chance I couldn't pick Singapore or Bali out on it.
